This Privacy Policy describes how NorthEliq ("we", "us", "the journal") handles personal information collected through our website, our subscription and contact forms, and the print and digital subscriptions we operate.
1. Data we collect

- Name, email and shipping address when you subscribe to the print edition.
- Name, email and message content from our contact form.
- Subscription preferences and member-tier choices.

- Basic server logs (IP, user agent, requested URL) kept briefly for security.
- Aggregate analytics about which pages are read and from where.
- Email engagement (delivered, opened, clicked) where supported by your email client.
2. How we use it
- To fulfil print and digital subscriptions.
- To deliver the monthly note and other communications you have opted in to receive.
- To respond to editorial, partner and reader inquiries.
- To maintain deliverability, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
3. Legal basis
Where GDPR applies we process personal data on the basis of (a) the performance of a subscription contract, (b) your consent for marketing communications, and (c) our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the journal.
4. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with vetted service providers (hosting, email delivery, print fulfilment, analytics, payment processing) under contractual safeguards limiting their use of the data to instructed purposes. 6. Retention
We retain subscriber data for as long as you remain subscribed. After unsubscribe, we keep a minimal suppression record so we don't accidentally mail you again. Subscription and inquiry records are retained for the period required by accounting and editorial standards.

8. Unsubscribe
Every marketing email we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time via our unsubscribe page. Opt-out requests are honoured within 48 hours, in line with CAN-SPAM, CASL and GDPR.

We protect personal data with encryption in transit, restricted access, modern authentication and routine security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users and authorities of any qualifying incident within the time frames required by law.
10. Cookies
Our website uses a minimal set of essential and analytics cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
